Architecture and Interior Design
hc.A is an architecture and interior design firm based in Florida and focused on creating spaces that are meaningful, long lasting and characterized by their relationship with nature. To achieve this, founders Peter Sprowls and Nic Rabinowitz use their fascination with the sun, historical precedent and site-specific strategies to develop highly custom projects for our contemporary habits of living. While our projects are not limited to Florida, it is the rich, natural beauty of the state that motivates hc.A’s work across architecture, interior design and public space design.
Nicolas Rabinowitz
Nic is a founder and Principal of hc.A, a former Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Florida School of Architecture and at Florida International University School of Architecture. Supporting hc.A’s interest in developing high quality spaces in competitive markets, Nic is a Realtor for Sotheby's International Realty specializing in Equestrian properties. After graduating from The Cooper Union in New York and working for Moshe Safdie, Nic returned to his home state of Florida to teach and begin hc.A with his long-time friend Peter Sprowls.

PETER SPROWLS
Peter is a founder and Principal of hc.A, Instructional Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Florida School of Architecture and Director of the Vicenza Institute of Architecture in Vicenza, Italy. After graduating from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Peter worked in Boston for Nader Tehrani and later for Elizabeth Whittaker before returning to his home state of Florida to teach and begin hc.A with his long-time friend Nic Rabinowitz.

RYAN VAN MIDDLESWORTH
Ryan hails from the Gulf Coast of Florida and has been a designer with hc.A since its founding in 2020. He is also a current graduate student at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and has been hc.A’s swiss army knife, working on all aspects of our in-house production from concept design to fabrication to construction.
